Oracle ACE Spotlight Kiran Tailor Oracle ACE Associate Ever since the days at college I wanted to be an accountant, which is possible because both my dad and aunt are accountants. Once I started doing my A-Levels at college I loved programming, and at the time we were using Turbo Pascal and the “Acorn BBC micro B” computer. This was the moment my career path changed. I went on to university and obtained a BSc (Hon’s) in “Business Information Services”, enjoying subjects in decision support system (DSS) and management information systems (MIS) as well as KAPPA expert systems. My first job was at a software consultancy company called EASAMS, which is a subsidiary of GEC, and then later renamed to Marconi. This was when I was first introduced to Oracle with its forms and databases. I worked there for approximately 18 months before I had the opportunity to work as a junior Oracle DBA position at CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants). I have been there for the last 18 years installing, upgrading, and tuning Oracle databases. Five years ago my company moved our CRM system to Siebel and I led the implementation of the Oracle Data Warehouse and Siebel Analytics, which eventually became OBIEE. Recently I have been working on the Oracle Cloud Portfolio with DBAAS, SOACS and ERP. On January 2, 2017, CIMA and AICPA (CPA’s) joined forces to create the “Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA)”. I was then offered the opportunity to become the Senior Enterprise Architect for Data. In this role I provide technical leadership in the areas of data modeling, information management, data warehousing, reporting and analytics. The consumption of data is changing rapidly and I look forward to sharing my experiences with the community. A few years back I was working with the Oracle In-Memory development product teams on some POC’s and was recommended to join the ACE Program in order to share this information with the community. Since then I have never looked back, with presenting at OOW 2014 and 2016, Ireland, DOAG, POUG and UKOUG. I have written articles for the Oracle Scene Magazine and have been featured in Oracle videos. During these times I have met a number of awesome people from the community and have made new friends. I am married with 2 children (a 14 year old and 8 year old) and we love our vacations. There is so much to see of the world. So far the vacations have been various beaches and cities around the world such as Bali, Bahamas, Hawaii, Clearwater, Miami, Tenerife, Majorca, France and most recently the Turks and Caicos. So far, the Turks and Caicos are up there at the top of the list, I highly recommend it. The water, to this day, is just like the postcards you see with the highlight of knee-deep water and two stingrays swimming past!!   Oracle ACE Program News Oracle ACE Directors Web Briefing Please let us know if you can attend our first product management web conference, hosted by Shay Shmeltzer.
